About the Position:
The ESA Northern California Region is seeking a Managing Associate (Project Manager) for our Sacramento Office. This position primarily involves managing the preparation of environmental reports for federal agencies (e.g., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service), California/local agencies, and Native American tribes. Typical project types include National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance, environmental constraints reports, and Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permitting assistance. This role involves direct client interaction, managing sub-consultants, and supporting proposal efforts.
This position requires strong knowledge and experience in NEPA, CEQA or environmental compliance on Tribal lands. Experience working with Native American Tribes and/or land management government agencies is a plus. This role requires the initiative, confidence and tenacity to uphold ESA’s strong work-ethic and to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment. This role especially requires exceptional writing and editing capabilities, as well as an understanding of project financial management. Successful candidates will have a broad-based planning related background, with a science background a plus although not required, and ideally experience working with public and private clients in a private consulting firm. Qualified candidates should have at least a BA/BS in a related discipline, a minimum of 5 years’ experience; or Masters and a minimum of 8 years’ experience.
