Research: perform research for new and existing client opportunities; collect, read, analyze, interpret and synthesize relevant information from a variety of sources

o   Key areas of Research include:

▪     Brand 

Insight Development: based on analysis of research, derive key Insights that help direct creative ideation and/or client recommendations 

Brainstorm Prep & Participation: In collaboration with Creative Strategy, Strategists will develop Research & Insights decks to help fuel creative brainstorms. 

Measurement Planning: Strategy owns the creation of Measurement Plans during the Concept Development/Pre-Planning Phases of a project (when they are assigned to the project) and during the Proposal Development phase of a pitch process.

Program Data Analysis: Analyzing data collected at key points throughout the project execution to determine hits, misses and optimization opportunities 

OBE Thought Leadership: The Strategist will greatly contribute to ongoing OBE Thought Leadership by sharing out with OBEALL, writing blog posts, sharing insights and key research, and taking advantage of speaking opportunities when possible. Thought leadership, though, does not exclusively fall in the Strategy bucket—all members of OBE are encouraged to be thought leaders and should be developing our Thought Leadership by sharing inspiration and best practices, contributing to our blog, sharing research, booking speaking engagements, etc. 

Trend Reporting: For ongoing clients and experiential at large, proactively share out quarterly trend reports and relevant articles/research studies that will help build our value for our clients and in the industry/marketplace 

New Business Development & Prospecting: Strategist will help drive and develop prospect plans, uncovering key business pain points of prospective brands and clients and developing strategic outreach strategies 

Event Audits: Strategist will lead the development of Event Audit forms for ongoing projects and/or OBE research of new or industry-relevant events

o   When possible, Strategy will perform these audits

o   When not possible, Strategy will help other team members prepare for onsite audits and review findings post-audit to help craft a recap/Audit Insights report


Drive new business development activities, including identifying new opportunities with new and existing clients to further penetrate the target market segments. 

Manage New Business opportunities, working closely with CEO and Biz Dev support team 

Strategize and direct capabilities deck creation; assist with execution when necessary 

 Attend capabilities meetings and discovery/briefing sessions

Participate in all Go/No Gos with agency Leadership to confirm projects and opportunities we will pursue

Develop personal target list and plan outreach with approval of President and/or CEO

Help develop and execute OBE Marketing Strategy

Help evolve the OBE brand

Contribute to OBE Social Media presence, including strategy and execution/copywriting for brand-distributed assets

Contribute to OBE thought leadership on the OBE blog and/or support OBE speaking opportunities

Help write pitch decks and client proposals

Participate in cross-functional website development team



BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, Advertising or related field


Minimum of five years of direct experience in Live/Events Marketing

  • Experience in event / experiential marketing to include generating insights and proposals for innovative programs


  • Strong writing skills.
  • Excellent client presentation skills.
  • Ability to understand each client’s business issues.
  • Fully understands the logistics of Event Marketing and all that goes into a campaign.
  • Firm understanding and familiarity of working with Brand Guidelines and Style Guides.
  • In-depth knowledge in brand positioning, awareness and consideration.
  • BIG thinker, strategic in your approach.
  • Up-to-date on current media, industry and consumer trends that affect audiences.
  • Strong understanding of Social Media Channels and their uses in marketing.
  • Ability to travel.


  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
