Job Qualifications:

Aurora Flight Sciences is a world-leader in developing robot hardware for new aerospace applications. We develop and apply state-of-the-art technologies in sensing, actuation, planning, design, and system verification & validation to bring innovative robot prototypes to life.

Specific Responsibilities:

The Senior Robotics Engineer contributes to conceptualizing, designing, building, testing, and demonstrating robot prototypes, in dynamic simulation, controlled lab settings, hardware-in-the-loop aircraft simulations, and in flight on full-scale aircraft.   

The Senior Robotics Engineer has the requisite experience, maturity, and communication skills to lead proposal, planning and execution of large R&D programs up to and including full-scale system or flight testing.

The Senior Robotics Engineer has extensive knowledge in the development of industrial robots and/or aerospace prototypes, and can lead the validation efforts on immediate and future Aurora Robotics programs. 

Minimum Requirements:

10+ years of industrial experience in advanced robotics/actuation development.

Must be a US Person (citizen or permanent resident)

Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in at least one of the following. Candidates should be fluent in a majority of the following:

  • Real-time computation

  • Power electronics

  • Trajectory planning

  • Electromechanical system design

  • Machine vision

  • Rapid prototyping

  • Dynamic simulation

  • Tactile sensing

  • Math

  • Low-level motor control

  • Acceptance testing of physical robot hardware

  • Real-time control of multi-DOF robots

  • Software engineering

  • Communication protocols

  • Embedded systems

  • Structural analysis

    Candidates must have strong written and oral communication ability.

    Candidates should have a zeal for working on high-functioning and diverse teams and for making real systems work.

Physical Requirements:

Occasionally required to travel

Shift Requirements:

Occasionally required to work non-business hours to support experiments and travel to customer sites
