Job Qualifications:

Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation is looking for an engineer to lead our Mechanical Design Group.  The individual in this position has the responsibility to lead the assigned team to execute and mature the site’s technical capabilities and methods (processes, tools, organization, etc.) in mechanical design. This person is also expected to provide significant technical contributions to various programs and proposal efforts. This job requires a combination of resource management, business development, and design engineering and test experience.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical definition and maturation of the site’s capabilities and methods in mechanical design.

  • Work with peers at other Aurora sites on the selection, implementation, configuration control and use-training of suitable tools and processes.

  • Perform all management responsibilities for the Group including conducting annual reviews, defining and monitoring program assignments, managing employee training plans, monitoring team accomplishments, and participating in the demand-forecast and assignment process.

  • Develop and implement a standard set of reviews with clear entry and exit criteria that are conducted in an appropriate and consistent method across all programs.Serve as the Lead Reviewer for the team.

  • Interface routinely with a multi-disciplined team to include other group leaders and program managers at Aurora as well as customer counterparts.

  • Write technical reports and summaries of test results.

  • Participate in proposal writing.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience; advanced degree preferred.

  • Supervisory experience is highly desired

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required

  • Travel to support customer presentations or to program meetings will be required 

  • Must be a US Citizen or Legal US Permanent Resident 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to support travel

Shift Requirements:

  • Occasionally required to work non-business hours to support experiments and travel to customer sites
